One thing on both however is extremely important. Don’t let price be your determining factor. A cheap guitar sounds, well, like a cheap guitar, there’s just no way around it. Advantages of an Electric Guitar:
- They can be plugged into amplifiers and speakers to get a good hard rock distorted sound even though the guitar might not naturally get that sound.
- Electric guitars usually look more stylish than an acoustic.
- Many electric guitars come with very useful effects such as chorus, phaser, flanger, tremolo and delay built in enabling you
Disadvantages of an Electric Guitar:
- The electric guitar is usually more expensive than an acoustic guitar.
- Some electrics don't look like guitars
- They can be hard to transport because of their size and weight.
- Most cannot be played acoustically (only acoustic/electrical guitars have amplification
Acoustic Guitar Advantages
An acoustic guitar has the warm sounds that can be hard to achieve with an electric guitar. Many people love playing acoustic guitars because they are easier to play than electric guitars, and good for beginners too! They're great for strumming out tunes together at campfires or parties where you want to sing along.

The shapes also make it difficult sometimes depending on how much stuff you need to fit in.
Nylon strings are smooth and soft on your fingers, but require more technique for accurate fingering.
Acoustic steel string guitars have a brighter sound than nylon stringed instruments, but have sturdier construction making them stronger and good for beginner guitarists who might feel overwhelmed by metal strings. Acoustic bass guitars have six strings tuned one octave lower than regular acoustic guitar so you can play low notes similar to the bass guitar.
So What Do You Think?
Both Acoustic and electric guitars have their good and bad sides. They both have different sounds, shapes, styles, etc., but you can also add some pedals to an electric guitar which you wouldn't be able to do with the acoustic guitar. Acoustic guitars are easier for beginners, while some people have a harder time learning on the electric because they're already used to playing the acoustic.
